4th & 5th Grade Reading/Social Studies
I graduated high school from Taft, Texas, a small town just north of Corpus Christi. I then attended East Texas Baptist University where I got my BSE in Elementary Education.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Education degree. I later added my ESL certification and the Grades 4-8 English Language Arts certification.
Reading and vocabulary skills have comprised most of my professional development training.
I am brand new to Medina ISD and excited to be here. I am teaching 4th and 5th grade Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies.
I spent 9 years teaching first grade, but then I stayed home and raised my children. Two years ago, when my youngest graduated, I went back into the classroom. I have taught 6th and 7th grades for the past two years and worked with the ESL kids. I am so glad to be back in Upper Elementary working on Reading skills.
I taught my own children at home for many years. Watching them learn to love to read had a huge impact on my teaching experience. It is important to help children try to find topics that are interesting so that they can enjoy their reading.
My husband and I have been married for 37 years. We raised our two children. Our daughter is a Junior at Sam Houston State University majoring in Music Education.
Our three cats, Moxie, Dixie, and Caspian, are a source of entertainment.
I do love books. I love the way words can play together to make word pictures.
Jigsaw puzzles, logic type games, and knitting are things I enjoy doing on quiet days.
